Hi I’m Sam! I am an extremely passionate and fast-learning developer with several shipped games under my belt. I have done extensive research on virtual reality interfaces with multiple published papers on virtual locomotion. My goal is to put myself at the forefront of VR game and interface development in order to create immersive and fun experiences.
I’ve been in love with games ever since my older brother taught me how to use the computer at age one-and-a-half. I started designing them as soon as I learned how to program. While my interests and education have strayed towards Psychology and Math, I’ve always kept a firm love of games and game design with me.
More recently, I’ve fallen in love with virtual reality. There is nothing more exciting than a new frontier, and virtual reality is finally becoming an actual reality. I developed games and user studies for Google Cardboard, Google Daydream, GearVR, and the HTC Vive. I think all of the VR platforms are amazing, and I’m confident that VR is going to be incredibly huge in the upcoming years.
For my graduate degree in Computer Science, I studied several types of VR locomotion, and I developed a Unity plugin called VR-Step to allow walking-in-place for virtual locomotion with Google Cardboard. I’m extremely excited about the human-computer interaction and user experience elements of VR.
